Radio - a resurgence?
Radio executives are predicting that radio is the medium that will derive the most benefit from new technologies. Read about what he has to say in this Media in Canada article.
How will this affect the voiceover business? Is there a new form of voice work in the offing? Here's a quote from the article where they discuss radio deriving revenue from podcasts:
"Thirty-second spots probably won't work in this environment. Options such as tags, product placements and exclusive sponsorships of individual podcasts are possibilities to consider," says Grierson. Some of the largest global advertisers, including P&G in Europe, are already diverting spending from traditional media to these types of digital opportunities. This should present an opportunity for radio as its delivery channels evolve."
Getting ready for a busy few days. Tomorrow it's our monthly cousins lunch. On Sunday I'll be participating in the first of two concerts the choir is giving next week. Of course, it will be business as usual doing my weather forecasts for 10 or 12 radio stations in the southern U.S over the weekend.
And then there's the BookExpo Canada trade show that I'll be attending on Monday. I'm really looking forward to meeting some publishers and authors and learning more about the audio book business.
Tuesday I'm having lunch with a group of women I haven't seen in about a year. We all worked together a number of years ago and have stayed in touch. And on Wednesday we have the second of our two annual choir concerts.
So I doubt I'll have time for any more pictures for a few days. I'm glad I was able to get out to the garden yesterday to mow the lawn and weed. I probably won't get another chance until later on next week.
And somewhere in the middle of all this I will have to contribute my paragraphs to a serial a group of us are writing. I participate in an online memoir writing group. One of the group had a nasty fall a few weeks ago breaking her shoulder and elbow. I can't imagine how painful it must be. To cheer her up, we have been writing this story with each of us contributing a few paragraphs at a time in turn. My turn should fall in the next day or two. It's getting quite exciting now with a mysterious murder...
