I'm Baaack!!
But still struggling to digest the incredible things we saw. Last year I spent a few days in Victoria and we travelled up the east coast a ways and were blown away. We also drove around the southern tip of the Island via Sooke to Port Renfrew on the west coast which is virgin territory - we even encountered two black bear cubs frolicking down the middle of the narrow, two-lane highway.
But nothing prepared us for the fantastic drive from Port Alberni to the Ucluelet Peninsula, also on the west coast of the Island. I will post some pictures. I am going to try to make a photo presentation as well.
John Masefield says it so much better than I can:

I must go down to the sea again
To the lonely sea and the sky
...
And a grey mist on the sea's face, and a grey dawn breaking

I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
All I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the seagulls crying...

More to come....
