Catching Up
Having ignored my blog over the past few weeks, it's time to catch up!
I've been keeping busy. I'll soon be recording the first book in a series of children's educational books on Canadian Prime Ministers. We're starting, appropriately enough, with Sir John A. Macdonald - Canada's first PM. The publisher has decided that the second book to be recorded will be the one on Jean Chretien.
I'm excited about this project and I love the way they are planning to use the print and recorded versions of the book together to help ESL students learn to read English. By listening to the audio while they are reading the text, they are also learning how to pronounce the words. What a wonderful and creative way to use audio books!
I've been busy with my photography as well. Last week I played hooky for a day and visited the Cheltenham Badlands just outside of Brampton, Ontario. It's a small area with topography just like the Badlands. I had never heard of it before so I figured with the fall colours, now would be a great time to check it out. Threw the dogs in the car and off we went on our little adventure. After going around in circles a bit because the driving instructions I got off the internet were out of date - roads had been renamed since they were posted - I finally found the spot. And I wasn't disappointed. Here are a couple of pictures.

Today, an incredibly beautiful, sunny and warm fall day, I went off with a group from the Toronto Photography Meet-Up Group to the Scarborough Bluffs. Although I've lived in Toronto for years, I'd never been there before. Again I took the dogs and they loved dashing in and out of the water and clambering over the rocks. It will take the rest of the night to get all the burrs, sand and who knows what else out of their coats - but it was worth it. Here's a little sample of what we saw. That's Dancer on the right midway up the picture.
